
Infineon Raceway owns 1,600 acres in
the beautiful Sonoma Valley, 900 of which is used for daily racing
activities.
More than nine and a half million cubic yards of dirt were moved on
the Infineon Raceway property during the $50-million Modernization
Plan from 2000-2002.
The hillside terrace seats at Turns 2-4, 7 and 8a-9 have used a
total of 140,000 concrete blocks. At 18-inches long each, that is
almost 40 miles of blocks.
Approximately 121,176 gallons of concrete were used to create the
660-foot concrete launch pad on the renovated drag strip.
The renovation of the drag strip required 9,600 hours of manpower.
Ten tons of rebar cable was laid underneath the surface of the drag
strip to reinforce the concrete launch pad.
On-track activity is scheduled at
Infineon Raceway an average of 340 days per year.
In 1970, Dan Gurney won a 150-mile USAC Indy Car road race with a
field that included Mario Andretti, Mark Donahue and Al Unser.
The Dodge/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Winston Cup event is one of the few
on the Winston Cup schedule measured in kilometers. This event is
110 laps, or 220 miles or 354.2 kilometers.
Michael Waltrip holds the record for most laps completed at Infineon
Raceway. Through 15 races, or 1,334 laps, Waltrip has completed
1,328.
Terry Labonte completed the greatest overall position improvement
from start to finish during the 2002 Dodge/Save Mart 350 when he
started 39th and finished third.
Jeff Gordon is the top money winner with $990,913, competing in 11
of 15 NASCAR events at Infineon Raceway.
Robby Gordon reset the record for most laps led by a race winner in
2003 when he led 81 laps on his way to Victory Circle.
Honda has won the most Superbike titles at Infineon Raceway with 9.
It is followed by: Suzuki (8), Kawasaki (3), Yamaha (2) and Ducati
(2).
History was made in 2003 at Infineon Raceway as Dyson Racing became
the first LMP 675 to defeat the bigger LMP 900 for the overall
victory since the inception of the ALMS in 1999.
Tom Kristensen holds the record for the fastest lap ever recorded on
the 12-turn, 2.52-mile Infineon Raceway road course with a
110.246-mph lap in his Audi R8.
The speed and elapsed time track records were reset in all four
professional classes in 2003. Doug Kalitta reset the Top Fuel speed
record by more than five miles per hour at 325.77.
John Force holds the record for most career victories at Infineon
Raceway, with six in the Funny Car class (1990-92, 1994, 2000-02).
